About The Chestnut Appeal

For 25 years we’ve been supporting the fight against men’s cancer – prostate, penile and testicular, while helping those in need. It’s not our story, it’s their story.

Help us stop men dying needlessly

The Chestnut Appeal was founded in 1999 at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, however it’s important to stress that the work we do covers Cornwall as well as Devon.

We believe that every person that’s suffering with or is affected by Prostate, Penile or Testicular Cancer, should get the help and support that they need.

We continue to raise funds to pay for the very latest equipment to make the treatment of Cancers easier. We continue to help fund the work of specialist nurses and we endeavour to develop and help patient led support groups as well offer free holiday breaks for those that have recently been diagnosed with Cancer.

Men’s health suffers from an imbalance and at the core of our work is highlighting the most common Cancer in men; Prostate Cancer. As well as this we also raise awareness of Penile and Testicular Cancer, two other treatable Cancers that sadly if left undiagnosed can be devastating.

We believe that it is vital to get more men talking about their health and taking action when they feel like something might be wrong and a lot of our time is spent out in the community giving free talks and seminars about these three Cancers.

We have been doing this work for over 25 years and aim to continue that well into the future.
