We know that companies in the South-West are always ‘doing their bit’ to help local charities but we like to think of ourselves as slightly different because what we’d like to do is to partner some of these businesses so that we can help each other in some mutually beneficial way.

Rather than a shot gun approach to working with every business in Plymouth, we’d rather partner up with no more than two or three key businesses where we could become their adopted charitable organisation for that specific year or even longer. We can then work with the internal teams to deliver something in return such as appearances at corporate dos, organised events, even mass PSA testing for male employees if you’d prefer.

There are a number of distinct advantages to companies having a charitable partner like the Chestnut Appeal. First of all, it always helps bond teams together behind a common goal such as raising a certain amount for a local charity. Second of all, chances are, there will be a shared experience within that team where male related cancer has impacted a number of those employees. In that instance they want to do ‘their bit’ and feel like they have helped.

Lastly, there is a part of collective fundraising that plays into the CSR of any company (Corporate Social Responsibility). It’s already been proved that that this type of activity is actually ‘good for business’.

The opportunities are endless and because of our significant profile locally, it’s always a positive association, especially where the regional media is concerned.
